About The Program

The Fall Higher Ed CIO Congress will focus on 75 c-level executives on the technology side of higher education (CIOs, CTOs and VPs of Technology). These leaders are mainly focused on generative AI, cybersecurity, maximizing student success ,and the quality and practices associated with undergraduate, graduate, and professional study at the college/university. Conference sessions will address how technology leaders can improve their institution’s finances, technology programs, support services, and organizational design to drive innovation and help students from all backgrounds succeed.

Topics Of Discussion

This session will share how the California Community College system has utilized a course-sharing method and dual-enrollment catalog to boost enrollments and student completion. Discussion will invite participants to share their experiences with similar enrollment recovery methods and alternatives that attendees have sought to increase student enrollment.

This discussion will explore the growing importance of prompt engineering in the effective utilization of artificial intelligence (AI). As AI systems, particularly large language models, become more integral to various industries, the way we interact with these systems through prompts directly impacts their performance and outcomes.

Enhancing workforce retention strategies is crucial for maintaining organizational stability, ensuring continuity of expertise, and reducing the costs associated with turnover.

Managing enrollment decline while mitigating rising IT expenses requires balancing cost-effective technological solutions with strategies to attract and retain students. Institutions must optimize their IT infrastructure to enhance efficiency and support enrollment initiatives, all while carefully managing budgets to ensure resources are directed towards both technological advancement and student engagement efforts.

Safeguarding cybersecurity in higher education involves implementing robust security protocols, regular system updates, and comprehensive training for students and staff. Institutions must address vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and stay ahead of evolving threats to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of their digital environments.

Advancing fairness in technology in higher education involves ensuring equitable access to digital tools and resources, addressing biases in algorithms and software, and promoting inclusive practices in tech development and implementation. This approach helps create a more level playing field for all students and staff, enhancing overall educational equity.

Empowering leadership and driving innovation in higher education involve cultivating visionary leaders who inspire and support creative thinking, foster a culture of experimentation, and invest in new technologies and methodologies.

This session will explore the multifaceted benefits and challenges of IT governance within higher education institutions. Participants will engage in candid conversations about aligning IT strategies with institutional goals, fostering stakeholder collaboration, managing risks, and driving innovation through effective governance practices. This roundtable offers a unique opportunity to share insights, discuss common hurdles, and collaboratively explore solutions that enhance the impact of IT governance in supporting the institutions’ mission.

Delegate Testimonials

This has been one of the best conferences I have attended. The speakers are great and the networking with others in Higher Ed has been wonderful

Frank Miuccio
IS Director, USC Student Health (CA)

RTM is a great networking environment. You meet others from small to large Universities. The sessions are very engaging and informational. Vendor sessions are not pushing sales. It’s you and them getting to know each other and if follow-up meetings are needed. -

Joshua Tepen
Executive Director of Design & Development, Maryville University (MO)

In addition to amazing thought provoking sessions, the networking opportunities at RTM Higher Ed events are the best I’ve ever experienced. I have made some great connections and friendship's with other IT leaders in Higher Ed.

Shelly Belflower
IT Director, Weber State University (UT)

The small focused attendee groups were great. RTM focuses on delivering a quality experience. The vendor expiring was personalized to each attendee, which helped to take the pressure off of the attendee as a sales pitch.
